ROCKLAND- The Rockland Nats are pleased to announce the signing of 18 year old defensemen Michael Keating. The right handed defenseman played with the Toronto Titans last season in GTHL and also served as the team’s captain. Michael attended the Nats Prospects Camp in June and impressed the team’s staff.

“Michael’s game is so simple and effective. He is well-positioned and his defensive reads are bang on. His gap control was off the charts at camp,” praises Head Coach Dan Sauvé. “ After meeting Michael, we knew right away he was a character kid who would serve as a great ambassador for the Rockland Nats.”

For his part, Michael is hoping to embrace the challenges of junior hockey. “ I want to develop my game and earn a NCAA scholarship. I want to work on my skills and hockey IQ playing with players with a high level of compete,” expressed Keating. “ I believe playing with the team’s veterans is going to help me grow my game and grow as a person, all of which I’m very excited to get started with.”

Michael believes this team can go a long way this season and isn’t shy to voice his thoughts: “I want to make the playoffs and try to make a run for a championship. I think being in a town like Rockland with the staff and facilities we have, we can be a very competitive team this season and I hope the town is as excited as I am.”

ROCKLAND- Les Nats de Rockland sont contents d’annoncer l’entente avec le défenseur Michael Keating. Le défenseur droitier de 18 ans a évolué avec les Titans de Toronto l’an dernier dans la GTHL où il était le capitaine de l’équipe. Michael a connu un camp d’espoir exceptionnelle à Rockland et a bien impressionné le personnel de l’équipe.

«Michael a un style de jeu très simple et efficace. Il se positionne bien et il anticipe très bien sur le plan défensif. La façon dont il contrôle l’espace entre lui-même et les attaquants adverses est une de ses grandes forces,» explique l’entraîneur en chef Dan Sauvé. «Suite à notre rencontre avec Michael, nous étions vendu sur son caractère et nous savions qu’il sera un bon ambassadeur pour les Nats de Rockland.»

Pour sa part, Michael a hâte d’affronter le défi de jouer dans la CCHL. «Je veux me développer comme joueur et je veux me mériter une bourse d’étude à un collège américain dans la NCAA. Je veux améliorer mes habiletés et mon sens du jeu en jouant avec des joueurs qui démontre de un passion pour le sport,» explique Keating. « Je crois que les vétérans de l’équipe m’aideront à m’améliorer sur la glace et aussi comme individu. Alors j’ai extrêmement hâte que la saison débute. »

Michael croit que les Nats ont assez d’outils pour se rendre loin cette année et il n’a pas peur de partager ses pensées à ce sujet. «Je veux faire les séries et je veux gagner un championnat. Je crois qu’avec le personnel et les infrastructures ici à Rockland, nous pouvons avoir une équipe très compétitive. J’espère que les gens de la ville de Rockland sont autant excités que moi!»
