BOXSCORE

Behind a two-run home run from short stop Harry Roberson (Amherst) and a multiple-hit performance from second baseman Ted Williams (Millersville) on Wednesday morning, the Nashua Silver Knights (17-17) cruised to a 13-7 win over the Brockton Rox (19-14) at Campanelli Stadium.

The win brought Nashua back to .500 and broke an eight game losing streak on the road. It also marked Roberson’s first home run of the season. As of 2:30 p.m. ET, the win put the Silver Knights in sole possession of second place in the East Division.

In the top of the sixth, trailing 7-5, Nashua strung together six runs to take a commanding 11-7 lead. The inning started with three straight base runners and a run was walked in due to Roberson being hit by a pitch.

Center fielder Cam Cruz (Eastern Michigan) hit a bases clearing double later in the inning, scoring designated hitter Kyle Bonicki (Clark) and pinch-hitter Aidan McDermott (St. John’s).

Nashua got off to a strong start, thanks to four runs scored in the first three innings. Williams led off the game with a double, which was followed by third baseman Cam Cook’s (Nichols) grounder, moving him to third base. He scored two batters later off of a sacrifice fly from right fielder Anthony Meduri (Binghamton).

The second run, coming in the second inning, came off of Cruz being hit by a pitch, then stealing second and third base. He scored off a RBI single from catcher Andrew Jaehnig (Assumption.)

Roberson’s two-run home run came in the third, with Cook being the base runner thanks to a walk.

Right-hander Shane Kittilia (Franklin Pierce) got the start for Nashua, lasting 4.0 innings and allowing six earned runs, a no decision.

Anthony Lupi (Merrimack) came in relief of Kittilia, picking up the win. The left-hander lasted 2.0 innings while striking out a batter and allowing a run. It was his second win of the year, improving his record to 2-0.

The Silver Knights return to action on Thursday night against the North Shore Navigators (12-18). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET. It is Brian Scalabrine night at Historic Holman Stadium.
