ROCKLAND- The Rockland Nationals organization is proud to announce that they have agreed to terms with left-handed defenseman Anthony Blad. The 19 year-old hails from Suffield, Connecticut and spent last season with the Springfield Jr. Pics of the USPHL U18, scoring one goal and six assists in 24 games. The big, physical defenseman likes to play a rugged game but also possess a good hockey IQ.

“We couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to add a big, strong and mobile defenseman like Anthony. He plays a hard game and has a real good defensive stick. He can also make quality breakout passes. We will lean on him heavily as the season progresses,” noted Head Coach and GM Dan Sauvé.

Anthony has plans of his own and hopes to use his time in Rockland to help him pursue both his hockey and academic dreams. “My goals for the upcoming season are to continue to develop and contribute to the team winning games and making playoffs,” said Blad. “My goal is to play college hockey at the highest level possible while pursuing my career in architecture  or engineering.”

The Nats Nation would like to welcome Anthony to the family and are anxious to get the 2017-2018 season underway!

ROCKLAND- Les Nats de Rockland sont fiers d’annoncer l’entente avec le défenseur américain gaucher Anthony Blad. L’originaire de Suffield au Connecticut est âgé de 19 ans et il a évolué l’an dernier avec les Jr. Pics de Springfield dans la ligue USPHL U18. Il a récolté un but et six mentions d’aide en 24 joutes. Le défenseur de grande taille joue un style imposant mais il possède aussi un bon sens du jeu.

«Lorsque l’occasion s’est présenté d’ajouter un défenseur avec les outils qu’Anthony possède, nous avons agi rapidement. Il adore jouer un style physique et il utilise son bâton de façon efficace dans la zone défensive. De plus, il est capable de bouger la rondelle intelligemment. Anthony aura un grand rôle sur notre équipe,» a prononcé l’entraîneur en chef et gérant Dan Sauvé.

Anthony espère que son séjour à Rockland lui permettra d’atteindre ses objectifs sportifs et académiques. « Mon but pour la saison est de continuer mon développement tout en aidant l’équipe à gagner des matchs et à se qualifier pour les séries, » a expliqué Blad. « J’aimerais jouer universitaire au plus haut niveau possible en continuant mes études en architecture ou en ingénierie. »
