On the brink of sweeping the Cuban National Team on Sunday afternoon, the Jackals played a tight game that came down to the 9th inning.

New Jersey got out to an early lead in the bottom of the second, taking a 4-0 lead all on RBI singles.

Center fielder D'Vontrey Richardson began the inning with an RBI single to score left fielder Brian Joynt, Ryan Retz drove home Taylor Brennan, Adam Martin singled in Richardson, and Johnny Bladel singled to score Martin. 

Behind a strong pitching performance from Lee Sosa, the Jackals ace looked for the complete game shut out as he entered the ninth inning.

Left fielder Denis Laza walked to score Raul Gonzalez for Cuba's first run.

Later in the inning, second baseman Juan C. Torriente lined a two run double to score Yulian Milian and Yordoni Samon to narrow the gap to 4-3.

Then, third baseman Jefferson Delgado came through in the clutch, hitting a go ahead single to score Laza and Torriente to give Cuba its first lead of the afternoon, 5-4.

But, the Jackals in their final at bats in the bottom of the ninth, pulled off some magic in game four.

With the bases loaded on a single and two walks, pitcher Luis M. Castro came on to face Yariel Vargas, who drew the third walk of the inning scoring Conrad Gregor to knot the game at 5-5.

Down 0-2 in the count, center fielder D'Vontrey Richardson delivered the clutch game winning RBI single to score Brian Burgamy from third, and the Jackals walked off on the Cuban National Team 6-5 to complete the series sweep!

Richardson has been red hot in his last four games, collecting three hits in each game against Cuba, along with 4 RBIs and 5 runs scored. 

The Jackals take Monday off before beginning another series on Tuesday at home against the Sussex County Miners to finish off the long home stand. 

New Jersey is now 22-14 on the season and sits 5.5 games out of first place.
