BROCKTON, MA—June 17th, 2017—The Rox continued their win streak, stretching it to eight games, as they swept the Pittsfield Suns in a doubleheader on Saturday at Campanelli Stadium.

In Game 1, The Rox (9-2) defeated the Pittsfield Suns (8-7) by a score of 8-3. The team jumped out to an early lead in the 1st, scoring three runs on RBIs from Chris Berry (North Florida), Kyle Simon (Palm Beach Atlantic), and Nick Garland (Central Connecticut State) Simon would hit his 2nd home run of the year in the 2nd inning, stretching the lead to 5-0. Brockton would add runs in the 4th, 5th, and the 6th to round out their scoring. Mason Palmieri (Bryant University) got the victory for the Rox in Game 1 pitching four full innings, giving up only three hits and no runs. A 2-run single in the 7th by Kevin Donati (SUNY Albany) and a RBI single by Kyle Beaulieu (Rhode Island) highlighted the scoring for the Suns.

The script was about the same in Game 2. The Rox defeated the Suns by a score of 9-3. The Rox got the scoring started in the 2nd inning highlighted by two Rox home runs. Tommy O’Hara (Tufts University) hit a rare inside-the-park home run and Simon hit yet another home run capping off a five run inning for the Rox. The team would add two runs in the 4th and Wyatt Olson (Niagara University) finished off the scoring with a 2-run single in the bottom of the 6th.  

Matt Fogarty (Curry College) got the start for the Rox, pitching four innings, giving up two earned runs on five hits. Drake Titus (Army) came in and pitched the remaining five innings for the Rox striking out five while only giving up two hits. Cal Slepkow (Clark) started on the mound for Pittsfield going 3.1 innings giving up seven runs on eight hits.

The Rox will head to Bristol tomorrow afternoon to take on the Blues (6-8). The team will be back at Campanelli Stadium on Tuesday night when they take on the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks. (7-7)
