It was after a 10-4 loss to the Oakville Buzz (11-6, second in South East division), I-heads coach Ron Reed said “There’s five games left. We need to win the of those to make the playoffs” Mission accomplished. After an undefeated weekend in Ottawa and 14-12 win over the Orillia Kings (8-10, third in Mid East division), the boys have now won three straight (their longest streak of the year) and during, clinched a playoff spot. Now they face one of two teams they have yet to get a W against, the Green Gaels (16-3, first in Mid East division).

Though the Gaels have been a serious threat, the Ironheads (9-8, second in Mid East division) have the most momentum going they’ve had all season. Though this seems like a different team, coach Reed believes their gameplan shouldn’t change. “We need to watch their transition and get our D on the floor quicker” he said and hopefully limit their scoring chances. The Gaels have added a couple of more good players.

Whatever the result, the boys will be heading to the playoffs in a few weeks. Of course, their opponent for the postseason is yet to be known, but according to them, it doesn’t matter who it is. “it does matter who we play in the first round. Says coach Reed” You have to beat them all to get to the final. We just want them to play as a team and stay positive”.

Today is also a special day not only for these two teams, but the entire OJBLL. It’s Durham Lacrosse day!, which will feature all five of the area’s minor lacrosse associations in an event that lasts all day.
