Alpharetta, GA.- The Brookhaven Bucks (3-3) got a big 3rd inning offensively which proved to be the difference as they defeated the Alpharetta Braves (3-6) 7-4 Friday night at Legion Field.

Will Hardigree provided the big blow with a bases clearing double that made it 6-0 as they took advantage of two hit by pitches from Braves starter Dylan Powers (0-2), one of which came with the bases loaded scoring the 1st run of the inning.

The Bucks got the scoring going in the 2nd inning thanks to a couple of Braves errors as Daino Deas and Connor Stutts scored on a ball hit by Dalton Light that bounced off Braves centerfielder Matt Trawick’s glove.

The Braves tried making it interesting in the 7th as they scored three runs thanks to an error by Bucks reliever Tyler Elwer that would’ve been the 3rd out instead keeping the inning alive. Matthew Heard and Brant Stark followed with RBI singles to make it 7-4 before the Bucks got out of the inning.

Jonathan Hughes (1-1) got the win as he tossed 5 innings while striking out 4 and walking 3 giving up 1 earned run. Austin Weiermiller got his 2nd save of the season in resounding fashion as he struck out the side.

The Bucks will take on the Atlanta Crackers Saturday at 3 at Oglethorpe University while the Braves will wait till Monday where they will once again take on the Bucks at Northview High School at 7:00
