The 2017 CCHL Bantam Protect Draft was held Monday night at the Navan Memorial Arena. The Brockville Braves picked up six forwards, four defencemen and one goalie in the draft.

The Braves staff was specifically looking for players that had a "strong ethic, a lot of grit, and a willingness to learn and we can apply that to all of them," said Braves director of player personnel Dan Armstrong when asked how the selection process went for the team.

Below (in italics) are Armstrong's recruitment profiles on each of Brockville's picks.

---------------

Round 8- 77th overall

"He's big and lanky for this age, he's still growing and in the Braves goaltending tradition, he fits in well as someone who is going to come in and learn a lot. He has good posture in the net and it helps him be very consistent. He's a consistent performer and he has a strong work ethic in practices."

---------------

Round 9- 89th overall

Curran Gilmour- Defence

Team: Rideau St. Lawrence Kings Major Bantam AA

"He's a competitor. He's a feisty defenceman with a lot of offensive upside. He has a good shot from the point. He played a lot on the power play this year and put up some good numbers. He's from the same area as (Braves captain) Andrew Jarvis and he reminds me a little bit of him. He has that kind of potential."

---------------

Jarrett Ladouceur- Forward

Team: Gloucester Rangers Green Major Bantam AA

Shoots: Left

Born: December 2, 2002

Hometown: Brockville, Ont.

Height: 5-foot-5

"He's a scrappy little puck pursuer. He sort of has that magnet thing going on where the puck seems to find him as much as he finds the puck and it works both ways, so most of the time he has the puck. He put up numbers consistently in both the regular season and playoffs. He's got good vision and awareness and he has a high work ethic."
