Elite Edge alumni Matiss Kivlenieks capped off his incredible season in the USHL with his name being added to two of the leagues most prestigious trophies.

Kivlenieks was named the league’s Player of the Year and Goaltender of the Year after an outstanding season with the Sioux City Musketeers.  He lead the league in wins (36), GAA (1.85), save percentage (.932) and shutouts (5).

Prior to joining the Musketeers he played in the NAHL with the Coulee Region Chill.  Next year he will start his college career with the University of Minnesota-Mankato.  He is only the fifth player in USHL history to be named Player of the Year and Goaltender of the Year in the same season and the first Musketeers netminder to win the award.

The Riga, Lavtvia native was also named the USHL Goaltender of the Week on two occasions this season. He was selected fifth overall by Sioux City in the 2016 USHL Phase II Draft.
