WINDSOR, CO. – The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, have announced that goaltender Clarke Saunders has been loaned to the San Jose Barracuda of the AHL. Saunders has posted a record of 28-7-1-1 this season with the Colorado, including three shutouts. The 27 year-old’s 2.60 goals-against average ranks 5th in the ECHL, while his 28 wins are tied for 3rd in the league. He was also named the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month for the month of February.
“My heart goes out to Clarke, as I know he would prefer to stay here in Colorado, but he realizes this may be a chance that he just can’t pass up,” said Eagles president and general manager Chris Stewart. “We wish him all the best and would love to see him back here in the next couple of weeks. If that doesn’t happen, then we will be happy for that young man. He deserves the opportunity and the paycheck that goes with it.”
#BravesAlum Note - Saunders holds the Braves all-time record for wins at 81 over three seasons from 2007-2010
