Hockey Ops is pleased to announce that Coach Matt Phillipes will be returning next season, where he will take over our 16A National team. Matt did a great job this season with our 16A American team. They finished the season just short of a playoff spot. The team went 12-7-3 in the DVHL, with a +38 goal differential. They also went 3-1 in the WJC classic to end the season, facing off against A National teams. Matt will be assisted by Tim Price, who is new to our organization.
Matt played his youth ice hockey career in the Lehigh Valley for 11 years, leading the Lehigh Valley Comets to a DVHL Championship and Atlantic District berth in his Midget 18's season. He then went on to play one year of ACHA Club Ice Hockey at Wesley College in Dover, DE becoming a first team all-conference selection as well as finishing second in the conference in points while playing defense. After transferring to Temple University, Matt played four years of NCRHA Roller Hockey. Matt became a three-time ECRHA All Star, one-time NCRHA All-American as well as leading his team to three national championship appearances during his time at Temple. Matt also coached Temple Roller Hockey's Division 3 club team and acted as Club President. This will be Matt's third year as a Head Coach for the Phantoms Youth organization and his second as part of the Midget 16 age group.
Tim has a total of 15 years of hockey experience playing at all levels. He grew up in Northampton PA where he played scholastic hockey. During that time he also played at multiple levels with the Lehigh Valley Comets making 4 playoff appearances and 1 trip to district semifinals. After graduating high school, Tim attended Widener University and played ACHA D3 hockey for a year before he transferred to Temple University to finish his education and play a higher level of hockey at ACHA D1.
