The Central Canada Hockey League and Brockville Braves are pleased to announce that ’97 born F Devin Moore has committed to attend NCAA Division I Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT for 2017-18.
The 5-7, 160 lb East Hampstead, NH native is in his first season with the Braves where he sits second in team scoring with 19 goals and 42 points in 49 games of action. Before joining Brockville, Moore suited up for three seasons with Phillips Exeter Academy of United States High School Hockey.
Known as a small but very skilled winger who can really turn it on when he gets into open ice, Moore can find soft spots in the defense and make plays as either the set-up man or finisher.
“Devin is living proof for all smaller players that heart, desire, work ethic, skill-set, and leadership cam trump physical stature, he is very deserving of this opportunity,” stated Braves GM Dustin Traylen.
“He was our first recruit this past offseason so it’s nice to see this happen for him,” said Braves Head Coach Colin Birkas. “He is a very smart, skilled player and it is long overdue. Joe Dumais at Quinnipiac has a sharp eye for talent and he got himself a good one here.”
Moore will be joining a Quinnipiac University Hockey Program that has been a staple for success at the NCAA level for many years. Head Coach Rand Pecknold has been with the program for 23 years and has helped the Bobcats to a 461-275-85 record during that time. The program has had no issues recruiting smaller players from the CCHL as back in 2011 they brought former Pembroke Lumber Kings standout and current Tampa Bay Lightning rookie Matthew Peca into their program where he spent 4 years developing his game.
“I am so excited to get the opportunity to play for such an elite program at Quinnipiac,” Moore said. “The facilities and campus are very nice so it will be a great place to call home for the next four years. It has been a dream of mine ever since I was a little kid so it is truly an honor. The season has had its ups and downs but I feel our team is trending up at the right time so hopefully we can make a deep playoff run coming up here in the next couple of months. I am excited for what the future holds with Brockville and after that at Quinnipiac.”
