Penalties were big for Brockville on Friday night.
The Jr. A Braves scored three times on the power play as the home team defeated Pembroke 4-1 at the memorial centre on Feb. 3. The Lumber Kings jumped out to an early lead, but Brockville kept the visitors off the scoreboard the rest of the way.
Corey Caruso tied the game at 8:05 of the second period. Noah Jordan scored what ended up being the game-winner 51 seconds into the third period. Colin Tonge made it 3-1 for Brockville at 5:33 of the final frame, and Devin Moore's goal at 11:29 padded the Braves' lead. Caruso, who picked up two assists, and Tonge (also with an assist) were named first and second stars respectively. Brendan Browne, who scored Pembroke's lone goal, was named third star.
Henry Johnson picked up the win in net for Brockville. Jake Smith made 37 saves for the Lumber Kings.
It was St. Lawrence College Night at the game on Friday. Schooner the mascot dropped the puck and greeted fans.
The Braves ended the night in fifth place in the CCHL's Robinson Division, two points behind the Kemptville 73's. Brockville (26-22-0-1) had two games in hand.
Up next for the Braves will be the Colts in Cornwall on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m. Brockville hosts Nepean at the memorial centre on Friday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
