SEPTEMBER 2016 MONTHLY HONORS

 

The Central Canada Junior A Hockey League (CCHL) is pleased to announce its initial 2016-17CCM/HESN Player/Goalie/Rookie of the Month awards for September. The Player of the Month is Corey Caruso of the Brockville BravesCaruso had an outstanding opening month accumulating 17 (6G, 11A) points in the first 12 games. The Braves forward earned (4) game stars while winning Second Star in the CCHL Three Stars for September. The Hamilton, ON native is currently tied for overall league scoring with 23 (9G, 14A) points. His leadership and effort are keeping the Braves close to the top of the Robinson Division. The Goalie of the Month honor goes to Carleton Place Canadians Connor Hughes. The Canadians goaltender is off to a blazing start posting a 7-2 record for the defending CCHL champions and who sit atop the league standings with a record of 12-4. Hughes led all goalies with wins (7), earned a shut-out and boasted an impressive 2.0 Goals Against and .914 Save Percentage. The London, ON native is currently 1st overall with a 2.16 Goals Against and his .917 Save Percentage ranks 3rd  in the CCHL. The Rookie of the Month for September is Ethan Manderville of the Kanata LasersManderville collected 5 (3G 2A) points in his first 10 games in the CCHL. The 16 year-old rookie has had a very impressive start, his work ethic and consistency has caught the attention from many around the league who voted for him. The Lasers forward plays in every situation and has already established himself as a more than reliable 2nd/3rd line centre.
