5 Bell Capital Alumni Selected at 2016 NHL Draft

Date:  Source: Bell Sensplex: Bell Capital Cup

Many current NHL players have participated in the Bell Capital Cup over the years. Congratulations to the 5 former Bell Capital Cup players who were selected in the NHL Draft this past weekend in Buffalo. 4 out of the 5 prospects were selected in the first round, including 5th overall selection Olli Juolevi who went to the Vancouver Cannucks.

Juolevi played in the Bell Capital Cup in 2010, but believe it or not, he finished a finalist as his Jokerit Blue team lost in the championship game 4-3 to the North York Knights. After playing on Jokerit U16 and U18 teams in the Finnish junior league, Juolevi chose to play his draft year (2015-2016) with the London Knights of the OHL where he helped lead them to a memorial cup championship. He was also a key piece in winning the gold medal for Finland at the U20 IIHF World Junior Championship in Helsinki.
