Ottawa put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Gloucester to score on any of their three power plays.Senators kept Rangers's goalie busy throughout the game, and Doug Johnston made 43 saves on 47 shots.

Ottawa also got points from Elie Boulerice, who also registered one goal and one assist , Luke McCaw, who also registered one goal and one assist , and Alexandre Way, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Ottawa came via Greg Meireles, who had two and Jody Sullivan, who had one.
