The Midland Flyers tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Caledon Golden Hawks held on for a 4-3 victory.
A goal by Kevin Pleasance put Caledon up 4-1 in the second period, but Midland pulled to within one on Evan Buehler's tally 6:26 into the third period.
Christian Mariconda quarterbacked the Golden Hawks' offense to perfection and bagged three assists in Caledon's win over the Flyers.
The Golden Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Midland to score on any of its three power plays.
Others who scored for Caledon included Sean Nottle, Nicholas McNutt, and Daniel Cafagna, who each put in one. More assists for Caledon came via Landis Antonic, Tyler Whitten, Ryan Mouser, and Jared Barilla, who each chipped in one.
Midland also got a goal from Bobby Logan as well. In addition, Midland received assists from Jon Goldsworthy, who had two and Steven Pickard, Francesco Corona, Matt Smith, and Curtis Anderson, who contributed one each.
Evan Barlow recorded 25 saves for Caledon. The Golden Hawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Jake Norton made 26 saves for the Flyers on 30 shots. Midland incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
