BLADES SEEKING BILLET FAMILIES

Date:  Source: OJHL Oakville Blades

Each year the Oakville Blades Hockey Club welcomes upwards of 30 players to Oakville, ON to compete in the Ontario Junior 'A' Hockey League (OJAHL).  While the majority of the roster is made up of local players from within an hour of Oakville (all but 2 on the roster in 2010-2011 were from the Golden Horesehoe region), some out of town players make up the remainder of the roster and they require a place to live during the hockey season.  The Blades are currently seeking billet families to host out of town athletes for 2011-2012.

The billeted players from out of town require a warm, welcoming environment in which to live, some meals provided and a room in which to stay.  Financial compensation is provided for billet families.  As has been the case in the past, a 2011-2012 host family is encouraged to host one or two out of town athletes, to attend all games and additional team functions.

All players, including billets, will be enrolled in either high school, college or university classes.  In addition, they will spend time outside of the billet home working out at the rink and gym, and the team practices Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4:30-6:00 PM.  The team will also play 2-to-3 games per week.

Players will arrive in Oakville to open training camp in August of 2011 with the regular season running from September to February.  Playoffs will take place starting in mid-February and extend until mid-May 2012.

If you would be interested in billeting an Oakville Blade in your house for the upcoming season, please contact the Blades President and General Manager Carlo Coccimiglio at 905-464-3295 or truenorthhockey@cogeco.ca for more information.
