Kennett survived a determined comeback attempt by OJR on the way to a 6-4 win.
A goal by Ryan Johnson put Kennett up 6-3 in the third period, but OJR pulled to within two on Shawn Fowler's tally 13:57 into the third period.
Kennett got the win with help from a great game by Johnson, who had two goals and one assist. Johnson scored the first of his two goals at 52 seconds into the second period to make the score 5-2 Kennett. Luke Borman picked up the assist. Johnson's next tally made the score 6-3 Kennett with 8:22 left in the third period. Borman assisted on the tally.
Kennett kept OJR's goalie busy throughout the game, and Zach Shepker made 26 saves on 32 shots.
Kennett also got points from Borman, who also registered one goal and two assists and Ryan Ganly, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Kennett also had goals scored by Mike Zirolli and Jack Dreisbach, who scored one goal each. In addition, Kennett received assists from Kayra Orankoy, Nick Ferranto, Forest Gheen-Regouski, and Connor Hyzny, who each chipped in one.
OJR forced Kennett goalie Sean Edmonds to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.
OJR was led by Johnny Kettelle, who finished with two goals. Kettelle scored the first of his two goals at 10:13 into the first period to make the score 2-0 OJR. Austin Mourar picked up the assist. Kettelle's next tally made the score 5-3 Kennett with 10:33 left in the third period. Joey Mace assisted on the tally. Tony Sheay also scored for OJR. More assists for OJR came via Tyler Vokes, who had one.
Edmonds rejected 40 shots on goal for Kennett. Kennett incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. OJR incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
