OJR pulls away in second, rolls over Oxford, 6-0


Oxford was within striking distance after one period, but OJR put the pedal down in the second en route to a 6-0 victory.

Tyler Skomsky was all over the ice for OJR, as he grabbed two goals in the win. Skomsky scored at 2:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 OJR and again while 9:55 into the second to make the score 4-0 OJR.

OJR managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. OJR finished below its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game.

OJR also had goals scored by Ryan ONeil, who had two and Shawn McCoy and Bailey Watson, who scored one goal each. In addition, OJR received assists from Austin Mourar, who had three.

OJR's defense shut down Oxford's forwards for much of the game, and Oxford got off only six shots during the contest.

Patrick ONeill rejected six shots on goal for OJR. OJR registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. Ryan Snowden recorded 23 saves for Oxford. Oxford ended with no penalties and went 0-for-1 on the power play.
