Boyertown had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-2 win over OJR.
Hunter Canestra was all over the ice for Boyertown, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Canestra scored the first of his two goals short handed at 11:22 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Boyertown. A holding call on Leo Richards put Boyertown on the penalty kill. Canestra's next tally short handed made the score 7-2 Boyertown with 13:33 left in the third period. Sean McGinley provided the assist.
Boyertown's penalty kill excelled, as Boyertown gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.
Boyertown stifled OJR's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Boyertown's offense rang up 38 shots on OJR's net. Boyertown could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game. Boyertown's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.
Boyertown additionally got points from Casey Sottenella, who also grabbed three goals and one assist and Bransen Mackey, who also registered two goals and one assist. Daniel Moyer also scored for Boyertown. Other players who recorded assists for Boyertown were Owen Sheppard, who had two and Chris Moccia and Harman, who each chipped in one.
Boyertown's defense shut down OJR's forwards for much of the game, and OJR got off only 10 shots during the contest.
OJR was helped by Tyler Skomsky, who racked up one goal. Skomsky scored 8:42 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Boyertown. Tyler Vokes picked up the assist. OJR also got a goal from Tyler Winget as well. More assists for OJR came via Shawn Fowler and Tony Sheay, who contributed one each.
Boyertown's Troy Viola stopped eight shots out of the 10 that he faced. Boyertown registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Patrick ONeill made 30 saves for OJR on 38 shots. OJR incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
