Salute to Mom's

Date:  Source: Little League Canada - Alberta District 1

We would like to acknowledge all of the work that parents and volunteers do to contribute to Little League. Carpooling, laundry, and attending games are all aspects of parenting when your child plays sports. While it is not always glamorous, it is always appreciated. As a young athlete, the game is made more special when you turn to see your mom cheering after you finally made contact with the bat. Stopping to get ice-cream after a game is as much part of the routine as stepping up to the plate. What happens on and off the field are all integral moments that build the positive connection between youth and sport. There are many parents, guardians, and family members that make many compromises to give their child the opportunity to play a sport.

With Mother’s Day fast approaching, please remember that you are valued. Your community, your children, and your team are all extremely grateful for all the work that you put in, both on and off the field. Thank-you for providing your children with the privilege to gain life experiences outside of the classroom. Sports are an excellent way to learn the value of dedication and commitment, while still having fun and being active. Thank-you to staying up past your bedtime to ensure your child’s uniform is clean and their bag is packed for the next day. Thank-you for watching the games and cheering just as loudly on the rainy days as you do on the sunny days. Thank-you for the many sacrifices made so you can come to as many games and tournaments possible. So, thank-you for providing snacks, a shoulder to cry on, and encouragement.

On behalf of Little League District 1, we appreciate your commitment to the culture of baseball.
