2015 NJ Eagle Pitcher Turning Heads at Villanova

Date:  Source: North Jersey Eagles

The North Jersey Eagle freshman pitcher Mike Sgaramella is enjoying a fast start with his college career.  The freshman from Florham Park attending Villanova is a member of the Wildcats starting rotation.   He is currently leading the starting staff with four wins and earned run average with a respectable 3.86.  In addition, he also leads the teams in strike outs.   His early success comes from the ability of throwing a very good fastball for strikes and relying on his mix of off-speed pitches.   The biggest game of the season came on April 1st, when he faced the Lafayette Leopards in the quarter final round of the Liberty Bell Classic tournament.  He struck six and walked only one in his six innings of work, and the bullpen came in to seal the 4-3 victory.  The coaches at Villanova are excited and feel he has a high ceiling as he will continue to grow with experience.  This summer, Mike brings his pitching talent to the Eagles and the staff is very excited about the opportunity.
