Former Georgetown Raider and Mississauga Charger Ralph Cuddemi (photo credit - Tom Wolf Imaging), now with the Canisius College Golden Griffins, has been named Atlantic Hockey's co-Player of the Week.
The Concord, Ontario native spent two seasons in the OJHL from 20010-12 before joining the Griffins program as a freshman this season. He joined the Georgetown Raiders as a 17-year old, after being drafted by the Erie Otters in the 11th round, 216th overall, of the 2010 OHL Priority Selection, and tasted immediate success in junior hockey, 23 points in 30 games played before a trade saw him moved to the Mississauga Chargers. Cuddemi continued his offensive prowress in Mississauga and finished the season as the club's fourth leading scorer with 16 goals and 40 points in 48 games played. Cuddemi returned to the Chargers for his sophomore season, and was clearly the club's most consistent threat the entire year, finishing 10th overall in OJHL scoring with 63 points in 46 regular season games played. Along with his scholarship to attend Canisius, Cuddemi also would play for the OJHL South Division All-Stars at the inaugural Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge that was held in Smiths Falls, Ontario.
Below is the official press release from the Canisius College Athletics website (www.gogriffs.com):
Junior forward Ralph Cuddemi of the Canisius College hockey team collected Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week accolades on Tuesday after leading the Griffs in a weekend series against AIC.
Cuddemi recorded four points on three goals and one assist as Canisius earned a 3-1 victory before the schools played to a 4-4 draw. In Saturday’s tie, Cuddemi became the first player in the country to net his second hat trick of the season. The junior now leads the Griffs with nine goals during the 2014-15 campaign to go along with eight assists for 17 points. Cuddemi was also named Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week on Oct. 21 after netting his first career hat trick at Army, leading the Griffs back from a 4-1 deficit for a 6-4 victory.
In 95 career games at Canisius, Cuddemi has totaled 59 points, 28 goals and 31 assists.
Cuddemi and the Griffs finished the first half of the season with a 6-6-5 record and 5-4-4 mark in Atlantic Hockey play. The team returns to action on Jan. 2 with a road non-conference series at Maine.
