Canucks Dominate Game 1

          The regular season records no longer matter and all of the seeds have been filled.  It's time for the Golden Horeshoe Conference Playoffs.  The 8th seed Wheatfield Junior Blades were poised to take on the top ranked Niagara Falls Canucks.  Niagara Falls was the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League and Golden Horseshoe Conference Regular Season Champions.  They recieved those trophies in a ceremony before the opening face off.

          The first period saw Niagara Falls take a barrage of shots at Junior Blades Goalie Eric Moeller.  Dave Mathers scored with assists from Dave Grant and Eric Diodati at the 8:07 mark to make it 1-0 Canucks.  Dustin Scott scored with assists from Dave Grant and Ryan Wiley at the 10:46 to make it 2-0.  Mark DiFruscio scored with an assist from Cam McLean at the 16:51 mark to make it 3-0.  Niagara Falls out shot Wheatfield 24-10 in the period. 

          The second period saw the Junior Blades get numerous chances but were unable to cash them in.  Dustin Scott scored his second of the game with assists from Ryan Wiley and Eric Diodati at the 33 second mark to make it 4-0.  Cam McLean scored with assits from Kyle Steckley and Myles Micallef at the 6:10 mark to make it 5-0.  Cam McLean scored his second of the game on the powerplay with assists from Ryan MacDonald and Cody Vinnai at the 18:35 mark to make it 6-0.  Niagara Falls out shot Wheatfield 16-15 in the period. 

          The third period saw Niagara Falls continue to put in a consistant effort.  Dustin Scott netted his hat trick with assists from Dave Grant and Ryan MacDonald at the 4:10 mark to make it 7-0.   Dustin Scott scored his fourth goal of the game with assists from Dave Mathers and Dave Grant at the 8:54 mark to make it 8-0.  Dave Grant scored with assists from Eric Diodati and Dustin Scott at the 12:13 mark to make it 9-0.  Niagara Falls out shot Wheatfield 12-7 in the period and 52-32 in the game. 

          Game two will be at the Hockey Outlet.  The Junior Blades will be looking for some home town support.  Face Off is set for 4:30pm on Sunday March 6th.  Admission will be free.  So wear your Junior Blades colors and have your noise makers in hand as you rooot for your Wheatfield Junior Blades.
