The Blades golf tournament is this coming Saturday.
Date: Aug 9, 2021

Derek and Dylan Muzzatti had quite a night Sunday at the Blenheim arena as the Blenheim Blades defeated the Alvinston Flyers 6-3 in Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ Hockey League action.
The win gives the Blades 20 points and a tie for fourth place with Dresden Kings who beat Amherstburg Admirals 5-4 Sunday in Amherstburg. Both teams trail the Admirals by two points with the Blades playing one fewer game than Dresden and Amherstburg.
The Windsor siblings, both in their second season with the Blades, scored four goals and added six assists between them with Derek finding the Alvinston net three times and Dylan once.
Dylan picked up four assists and Derek two.
Dylan opened the scoring at 4:24 of the first period, with Derek getting his first at 5:42 of the second, and then his second and third at 1:18 and 1:23 of the final frame.
Saturday night in Wheatley Derek netted two more goals to give him eight on the year, and seven in his last five games, while Dylan now has six goals and leads the team in points with 19 in 18 games. Derek had the game winner in both games, and has three over-all on the season.
Jordan Durston, playing just his second game since rejoining the team Thursday, added a goal and an assist, with Phillip Clarke, who was called up for the contest from the Blenheim Midgets, getting his first Junior ‘C’ goal into an empty Flyers net with 13 seconds to play.
The game was the first Junior ‘C’ contest for Clarke.
Single assists went to Doug Ross, Lucas Hickey, Bryan Boersma, Ben Pataki and Blair Derynck.
Joe Archer, Josh Moore and Kirklin Dorman had the Alvinston goals.
Things got a little tense for the Blades over the last six minutes as first Teddy McGeen, at 13:05, took a crosschecking penalty, and just after his penalty ended Dylan Smith was assessed a double minor for high sticking at 15:08.
Alvinston pulled their goalie for an extra attacker during Smith’s penalty, but the Blades were able to hold the Flyers off for the win. Twice while the Alvinston netminder was on the bench the Blades hit the post with shots before Clarke’s empty netter wrapped up the scoring for the night.
Klinton Kenney was in goal for the Blades and picked up his ninth victory stopping 26 of 27 shots, including several key saves during the last seven minutes.
The Blades fired 43 shot on the Alvinston net.
Next action for the Blades will be Wednesday when they travel to Wallaceburg to play the Lakers at 7:30 p.m. before hosting Wheatley next Sunday at 7:15.
