The NACSB (National Alliance of College Summer Baseball) recently bestowed its Most Valuable Program Award to Coach Danny Hall and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The award, said the NACSB’s press release, “is intended to recognize one college or university coach each year that has had the greatest impact on advancing the goals and objectives of the NACSB.
“To be considered, at least one student athlete from the coach’s college must have signed a Letter of Commitment to an NACSB league and participated in the league during the 2012 season. Points are awarded to the school based on players’ participation as well as performance.”

Georgia Tech beat out finalists Maryland, Seton Hall and Florida Atlantic to claim the award. In addition, the NACSB cited Wake Forest, Seminole State, Vanderbilt, Indiana and Stetson as semi-finalists.
The NECBL made substantial contributions to this award. Two Yellow Jackets, Danbury OF Daniel Spingnola and Sanford OF Paul Kronenfeld, left an indelible mark on the 2012 summer. Spingnola was selected to the NECBL’s All-Star team after hitting .321 and flashing some of the League’s best speed.
When the season ended:
- 30 players from these top nine schools were on NECBL rosters at season’s end
- Seven of the 10 NECBL teams had at least one of these players
- Players from all but one of the top nine schools were represented in the NECBL
- Players from these nine schools made up nine of Perfect Game’s top 35 2012 NECBL prospects. Pitcher Adam Ravanelle (Vanderbilt/Newport) was ranked as the NECBL’s fourth overall prospect
- Seven players from these schools- Spingnola, pitchers Ben Brewster (Maryland/Danbury) and Jose Lopez (Seton Hall/Mystic), infielders Vicente Conde (Vanderbilt/Laconia) and Conor Keniry (Vanderbilt/Newport), and outfielders Jordan Hagel (Maryland/Sanford) and Will Cooper (Vanderbilt/Sanford) were selected as NECBL All-Stars
- Lopez and Jake Stinnett (Maryland/Danbury) were two of the top six save leaders in the 2012 NECBL
- Steven Rice (Vanderbilt/Sanford) was named NECBL Pitcher of the Week for the period ending July 28th.
The NECBL congratulates all schools and players involved, and is proud that their alumni played such an integral piece of the 2012 Most Valuable Program Award.
