Johnstone leads Fort Erie over Buffalo, 6-3

The Fort Erie Meteors' Carson Johnstone had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 6-3 win over the Buffalo Regals.

Johnstone scored at 10:29 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while 10:50 into the second to make the score 2-1 Fort Erie.

Fort Erie stifled Buffalo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Meteors forced the Regals goalie Adam Dentico to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. Fort Erie bested its season scoring average. The Meteors have scored at the pace of 3.5 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of Fort Erie were also effective in Buffalo's zone, and came away with two goals.

Fort Erie also got points from Braden Kavaratzis, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Jared Marino, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Fort Erie included Austin Carroll and Mike Boles, who scored one goal each. More assists for Fort Erie came via Josh Micallef, Kyle Marino, and Sam Quaranta, who each chipped in one and Nicolas Giancola and Richard DeMarco, who contributed two a piece.

The Regals excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances.

Buffalo was helped by Nicholas Matos, who registered one goal. Matos scored 16:29 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Fort Erie. Michael Faliero assisted on the tally. Buffalo also had goals scored by Taggart Ledyard and Matthew Shumate, who each put in one. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Jeff Avoilo *AP, Christian Nati, Colton Anstey, and Matt Mahony, who each chipped in one.

Matt Baker recorded 27 saves for the Meteors. Fort Erie incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Meteors ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jack Webb was ejected from the game. Adam Dentico made 36 saves for the Regals on 42 shots. Buffalo incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Regals, Avoilo *AP was ejected from the game.
