The Welland Jr. Canadians gutted out a close 6-4 win against the Buffalo Regals.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Damien Lalonde at 2:25 of the second period.

Welland got the win thanks to a great game by Jason Lacroix, who had one goal and two assists. Lacroix scored on the power play 7:55 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Welland. The Jr. Canadians had gotten the advantage when Buffalo's Tyler Casillo was sent off for cross checking. JC Thivienge picked up the assist.

Welland excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Jr. Canadians kept the Regals' goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Dentico made 32 saves on 38 shots. Welland found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Jr. Canadians average 3.2 goals per game.

Welland additionally got points from Lalonde, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Welland also had goals scored by Adam Mataya, Jack Fitzgerald, Connor Walters, and Brayden Stortz, who each put in one. In addition, Welland received assists from Adam Barron and Gabe Ruggi, who contributed one a piece and Jonathan Goldsworthy and Matthew Mateljan, who each chipped in two.

Welland was unable to stop Buffalo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Regals eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. Buffalo's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Regals average 1.9 goal per contest. Penalties took their toll on Buffalo, as its penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

The Regals were helped by Michael Faliero, who tallied one goal. Faliero scored 55 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-3. Christopher Moses assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Buffalo included Christian Nati, Colton Anstey, and Nicholas Matos, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Colin Farell, Jake Battistoni, Ryan Cox, and Kennedy Monaco, who contributed one a piece.

Chris Janzen recorded 29 saves for the Jr. Canadians. Welland incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Buffalo ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. For the Regals, Casillo was ejected from the game.
