Caledonia uses early goal to top Buffalo, 4-2

The Caledonia Corvairs took the lead against the Buffalo Regals in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 4-2 victory.

A goal 1:46 into the the first period by Cody Brown proved to be the game winner, and powered Caledonia to the victory Connor Patton provided the assist.

The Corvairs were paced by Justin Abraham, who registered one goal. Abraham scored 19:13 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Caledonia. Connor Murphy assisted on the tally.

Caledonia kept Buffalo's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ian Sylves *AP made 31 saves on 35 shots.

Caledonia also got points from Matt Quilty, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jordan Peacock also scored for Caledonia. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Spencer Gourlay, Scott Dorian, and Jeffrey Marlott, who each chipped in one.

The Regals managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Buffalo ended up below its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game.

The Regals were helped by Matthew Shumate, who grabbed one goal. Shumate scored on the power play 13:14 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Caledonia. Buffalo had gained a power play chance when Jayme Forslund was whistled for tripping. Kennedy Monaco picked up the assist. Buffalo also got a goal from Colton Anstey as well. More assists for Buffalo came via Colin Farell and Nicholas Matos, who contributed one a piece.

Curtis D Ortenzio made 15 saves for the Corvairs on 17 shots. Caledonia incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Regals registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
