A hat trick by Jesse Pereira was the highlight in Meteors' 7-0 win against the Buffalo Regals.
Pereira notched his first tally 17 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 13:42 into the first and at 43 seconds into the second.The Fort Erie Meteors pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 54 penalty minutes.
Fort Erie made Regals' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, finishing with 35 shots and forcing 28 saves. Adam Dentico made 22 stops and Ian Sylves *AP made six. The Meteors stifled Buffalo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Fort Erie found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Meteors average 3.2 goals per game.
Fort Erie also got points from Braden Kavaratzis, who also grabbed one goal and five assists to lead the team in points. Carson Johnstone also scored for Fort Erie. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Erie were Jared Marino, who had one, Nik Passero, who had three, and Bryce Biller and Sam Quaranta, who contributed two a piece.
The Regals could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.
Liam Conway recorded 15 saves for Fort Erie. The Meteors registered three goals on six power play opportunities. Fort Erie ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kavaratzis was ejected from the game. Buffalo registered zero goals on eight power play opportunities.
