A stellar performance between the pipes by Knick Dawe helped the St. Catharines Falcons defeat the Buffalo Regals, 4-1.
St. Catharines was led by Mark Rodgers, who grabbed one goal. Rodgers scored 15:37 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Catharines. Brandon Cercone picked up the assist.
The Falcons excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. St. Catharines' offense rang up 48 shots on Buffalo's net.
Others who scored for St. Catharines included Broderick Kelly, Yanni Rallis, and Brennan Feasey, who each put in one. In addition, St. Catharines received assists from Tyler Jackson, who had two and Kyle Woodhouse, Greg Jambrosich, and Aaron Taylor, who each chipped in one.
The Regals managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for 12 minutes in penalty time. Buffalo ended up below its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game. The Regals kept the Falcons' goalie busy throughout the game, and Dawe made 32 saves on 33 shots.
Buffalo was led by Colton Anstey, who scored the team's only goal. Anstey scored 2:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Buffalo. Colin Farell provided the assist.
St. Catharines incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Ian Sylves *AP rejected 44 shots on goal for the Regals.
