Ramon Ortega played collegiate baseball with the Manhattan Jaspers from 2010- 2013. He led the MAAC in 2012 with 51 RBI and was name to the MAAC All-Tournament Team in his junior season.
In 2013 he was First team All-MAAC as a catcher. He led the team in batting average (.311), RBI (36), and tied for first in home runs (5). He started in 49 of 50 games for the Jaspers.
Ortega played in 2014 with the Frontier Greys part of an Independent Professional league in the Frontier League. He played in 38 games that season, totaling 22 hits including 2 doubles, a homer, 14 runs and 7 RBI's. He played in 32 games as a catcher and had a .975 fielding percentage.
In 2015 Ortega joined the Winnipeg Goldeyes in the American Association, another Independent league. He played in 22 games with the Goldeyes and had a .266 OBP and a .203 batting average.
Currently in the USPBL, Ortega has played in 28 games for the Birmingham Beavers. He has a .271 batting average with 3 doubles, a home run, and 14 RBI.
