Daniel Perry returns to the Waterloo Bucks after hitting .306 with three RBI, five runs and two stolen bases last summer as a high school senior. Perry also made one appearance on the mound, tossing 1.1 innings. Perry redshirted at the University of Iowa in 2016 for his freshman season. Perry was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 13th round of the 2015 MLB Draft out of Lassen High School, but did not sign. The Susanville, Calif., native was ranked a Top 500 prospect nationally by Perfect Game and was a four-time All-League selection. Perry was named All-Section and his team’s Most Valuable Defensive Player as a senior in high school. As a junior, Perry was named his team’s Most Valuable Offensive Player. Perry was also a three-time All-League selection in basketball. Perry’s father, Eric Perry, currently works in the Chicago Cubs organization and was drafted by the Cubs in the 15th round of the 1987 MLB June Amateur Draft. Perry’s brother, Quinton Perry, played for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters in 2010 and played college baseball at UC-Santa Barbara.
