Returning for his second season as manager in 2011, Everson takes on additional responsibility as the director of baseball operations this season. Last year, he led the Wild Things to a 38-57 record.

 

Everson was part of the Florida Marlins organization for four years, serving most recently as field manager with the Greensboro Grasshoppers of the Class-A South Atlantic League during the 2009 season. In 2007 and 2008, he served as field manager of the Jamestown Jammers of the New York-Penn League. His 2008 Jammers team compiled a 47-29 record, advancing to the championship series before losing to Batavia. He first joined the Marlins organization as the hitting coach for the Florida State League’s Jupiter Hammerheads in 2006. Prior to his professional coaching career, Everson served as an associate scout for the Baltimore Orioles from 2003 to 2004.

 

Everson played minor league baseball for seven years, beginning his professional career in the Frontier League’s inaugural season in 1993 with the Ohio Valley Redcoats. The Redcoats advanced to the championship series that season, with Everson batting .313. He signed with the Montreal Expos as a free agent in 1994 and spent time in the minor league systems of the Expos, Pittsburgh Pirates and Boston Red Sox, with whom he advanced to the AA level. He also played in the Northern League for four seasons, three with Madison and one with Winnipeg. He recorded a .295 batting average during his playing career.
