Prendergast comes to the Gulls after completing his junior season with the Seton Hall Pirates, finishing the spring with a 5-6 record while posting a 3.98 ERA in 13 starts, working 74 2/3 innings allowing 33 earned runs while striking out 65. He made 11 starts during his sophomore season, going 4-3 with a 3.84 ERA in 63 1/3 innings pitched, with 45 strikeouts.

He pitched in the NECBL in 2014 with the North Adams SteepleCats, where he appeared in 12 games, making three starts, and finished with a 4-1 record while posting a 1.72 ERA. Over 31 1/3 innings, he held opposing hitters to a .198 average. 

A four-year letter winner at Horsham High School as a pitcher and an infielder, he threw a no-hitter in 2012 and helped lead his team to a 22-5 record and first place in the conference, before falling in the state semis in 2012.
