McPhaul, a native of Berkeley, CA, is a reshirt freshman at Delta JC in Stockton, CA.
McPhaul prepped at Berkeley High School under coach Matt Bremer. During the summer of 2012, he was named as a Perfect Game U16 World Series All Tournament pitcher after posting a line of 5IP, 0 runs, 0 hits and 6 K's in a win over the Houston Banditos.
In 2013, he was named 2nd Team All West Alameda Contra Costa Atheltic League (Foothill Division) at Berkeley High School after posting a record of 5-2 with a 1.53 ERA for a Yellowjackets team where his teammates were fellow Merchant Ondrej Sebek (Cal Poly SLO) and Noah Bremer (Univ of Washington). He was also named a Regional Honorable Mention by Perfect Game Baseball.
In 2014, McPhaul redshirted as a freshman at McNee State in Lake Charles, LA.
In 2015 at Delta, he has seen action as a relief pitcher for a team that is currently 31-1 and ranked #1 in the nation (as of April 20, 2015). In 9 relief appearances for the Mustangs, he has struck out 8 and has an ERA of 0.00. He is averaging 11.37 K's/game - the highest on the Delta team.
