2014 is Josh Spence's first season with the ThunderBolts and fifth overall as a pro. He was drafted in the 25th round in 2008 by the Arizona Diamondbacks and in the third round in 2009 by the Los Angeles Angels, but did not sign. The San Diego Padres selected him in the ninth round of the 2010 draft and he began his pro career in the Padres' system. He made his Major League debut one year later, pitching for the Padres on June 24, 2011. In two years with San Diego, he appeared in 51 games and had an 0-3 record and 3.15 ERA. He struck out 41 batters and gave up only 27 hits in 40 innings. In five minor league seasons, Josh has gone 10-6 with a 3.66 ERA in 123 career games (nine starts). In college, he spent two seasons at Central Arizona College and one at Arizona State University, going a combined 37-8 with a 1.67 ERA. He went to high school at St. Josephs College in Victoria, Australia.
