Tim Atwood is returning in 2014 for his second season as the Mainers hitting coach. Looking to build on a team .251 batting average hoping to mix a little more balance into the offense with 10 seniors and 10 juniors rounding out an experienced Mainers roster.Tim graduated from Gorham HS in 2004. A four-year letter winner and starting second baseman for the Rams, Tim was a two-time Western Maine Conference champion and a defensive stalwart. He finished his career as captain of the 2004 team.After graduation, Tim attended the Gunnery school in Washington, CT. He was a three-sport athlete and a standout on the hot corner while playing for Coach of the Year Jeff Trundy in the Cape Cod Baseball League. He excelled in basketball and cross country. After a postgraduate year, he took his talents to Bristol, RI, and Roger Williams University (RWU), where he excelled as a middle infielder for the Hawks, including a career high .375 average as a sophomore. Tim established himself as a leader, and became captain his senior year. In his four years, he helped RWU to a school record of 98 wins.Tim currently works at Bridgton Academy, where he is an assistant to both the basketball and baseball programs. He also teaches history and English. |
