Hiram is entering his 17th season of professional baseball and will be making his Atlantic League debut with the Bluefish in 2010. The former Major Leaguer spent the past two years as a member of the Seibu Lions of the Japanese Pacific League. In two campaigns with the Lions, he slugged 33 home runs with 79 RBI and 72 runs scored in 153 games played. Bocachica has enjoyed eight seasons in the big leagues, with his first appearance coming in 2000 as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He would also spend the following two seasons in a Dodgers uniform before being traded to the Detroit Tigers in 2002. Following the trade, the Puerto Rico native would post five more successful seasons in the Majors with Detroit, Seattle, Oakland and San Diego. In 272 career Major League games, the 34-year-old has recorded 115 hits, with 15 home runs and 72 RBI over the course of 535 at-bats. Hiram was originally selected by the Montreal Expos in the first round (21st overall) of the 1994 amateur draft.
