Gustavo Molina joins the Bluefish for his fourth season in the Atlantic League and 17th of professional baseball. Last year, the catcher played 54 games for Southern Maryland, also of the Atlantic League, where he collected a .254 batting average with six home runs, 24 RBI, and 20 runs scored.
The 34-year-old began his professional baseball career in 2000 after signing with the Chicago White Sox as an undrafted free agent. Molina has played parts of four seasons in the big leagues, appearing with the Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, and New York Yankees. In 26 Major League games, he compiled a .128 batting average with one RBI and two runs scored.
Over the course of 1,094 career minor league games, Gustavo has collected a .238 batting average with 89 home runs, 462 RBI, and 360 runs scored.
