Kyle Haines was a 31st round draft pick by the Giants in 2004 after being named All-Ohio Valley Conference as a shortstop.  Haines spent five seasons in their organization, advancing to the Double-A level where he was selected to the Eastern League All-Star Game while playing for the Connecticut Defenders.  He was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the Minor League Phase of the 2008 Rule Five Draft and played the 2009 season in the Cleveland Indians’ organization.

 

Kyle finished his 10-year professional playing career in 2013 with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League.  Overall, his is a .265 career hitter in 692 career games and was part of the San Jose Giants’ 2007 California League championship team. 

 

Kyle is the younger brother of Andy Haines, who served as hitting coach for the West Division champion Dubois County Dragons in 2002 and field manager for the Windy City ThunderBolts in 2007.  Andy led the ThunderBolts to a league-record 68 victories while being named Manager of the Year and leading Windy City to the first of their back-to-back championships.  Andy is currently the field manager for the New Orleans Zephyrs, the Miami Marlins' Triple-A affiliate in the Pacific Coast League.
