Juan returns to the Bluefish for his second season with the team, fourth in the Atlantic League and sixth of professional baseball. After being acquired from the Camden Riversharks late last year for pitcher Miguel Martinez, he compiled a .325 batting average in 30 games with four home runs and 15 RBI in Bridgeport. In 89 games with Camden last year, he batted .221 with 22 extra-base hits, 31 runs scored and 35 RBI. In 120 total Atlantic League games in 2013, Martinez hit .253 with eight home runs, 60 RBI and 19 doubles.

The 27-year-old began his career with the San Francisco Giants organization after being selected in the 46th round of the 2009 MLB Amateur June Draft. He spent two seasons with the Giants affiliates, and reached as high as Single-A in 2010 with Augusta of the South Atlantic League. The infielder has spent the last three years in the independent ranks, playing with the York Revolution, Camden Riversharks and Newark Bears of the Can-Am League. Over the course of 402 career games, Martinez owns a .264 batting average with 66 doubles, 30 home runs, 199 runs scored and 165 RBI.
