Jones joined Lincoln in late June last season, after being released by Sioux City, and provided an instant jolt.  He hit .400 in his first 13 games for the Saltdogs, helping the team snap out of its early-season funk, and he settled in as the everyday third baseman for the rest of the season.  Jones was a sixth-round draft pick of the Kansas City Royals out of high school in 2002, but chose not to sign, and didn’t begin his pro career until three years later.  He started with the Kansas City T-Bones of the Northern League in 2005, spending two years there before moving to Sioux City for his first stint with the Explorers in 2007.  Brandon played in the Frontier League in 2008 for the Southern Illinois Miners, but came back to the American Association in 2009.
