Boyd marks the second straight season a Seton Hall Pirate has come to Mystic, following NECBL All-Star Jose Lopez from last season. For Seton Hall in 2013, Boyd saw playing time in 36 games, starting 16 of them. Batting .242 on the year, he clubbed 7 doubles and drove in 14 RBI, also drawing 19 walks to garner an impressive .410 OBP.
Last summer, the catcher played in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League with the Lehigh Valley Catz and batted .200 with 16 hits, 8 of which went for extra bases.
As a freshman in 2012, Boyd batted .214 for the Pirates in 23 games (10 starts) with 5 RBI and 10 walks, good for a .370 OBP.
Prior to Seton Hall, Boyd starred at Roxbury High School by earning Morris County Player of the Year honors as a senior. He was a three-time First-Team All-Area and All-Conference selection, two-time Second-Team All-Area, one-time First-Team All-Area and earned First-Team All-State Group 4 and Third-Team All-State Overall honors.
