Mike is a freshman from Florida International University in Miami, Fla.  During his freshman season for the FIU Golden Panthers, Mike spent most of his playing time in the outfield, although he did notch a few appearances as a relief pitcher.  The Miami native was incredibly productive during his senior season at Killian High School in 2008, batting .470 with four homers and 37 RBI while notching a 1.07 ERA and six saves from the hill.  His outstanding achievements earned him the Florida Athletic Coaches Association South Region Player of the Year Award and he was also named to the Rawlings All-American Team.  Mike, a business administration major, is the son of Jorge and Debbie Martinez and he has three siblings: Natalie, Angie and Jorge.
