Joining Notre Dame teammate Cristian Torres in the Berkshires this summer, freshman outfielder Kyle Richardson will add depth to the SteepleCats’ lineup in 2013 and could contend for a starting role on the squad.
Seeing time in 11 games in his first collegiate season, Richardson totaled one RBI and one walk at the end of the regular season with the Fighting Irish. At Marine South High School, he was a two-time all-conference recipient and was selected to the all-area and honorable mention all-state teams as a senior. Richardson also helped his team win region and conference championships as a senior.
The son of Timothy – who played four years of baseball at the University of Illinois and enjoyed a nearly seven-year minor league baseball career – and Janice Richardson, Kyle had uncles that played football at Illinois, Wisconsin and Illinois Wesleyan, and also had an uncle that played baseball at Iowa. He has two younger sisters, Courtney and Britney, and is enrolled in First Year of Studies.
