Javier Brito is a native of Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela who returns for his second season in El Paso. The 6-3, 210 lbs veteran infielder signed as a non-drafted free agent with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2002 and began his professional career playing Rookie ball with the Missoula Osprey of the Pioneer League in 2003 and 2004. In 2005, Brito split time with the Class-A South Bend Silver Hawks of the Midwest League while being named to the MID Mid-Season All-Star Team and the High-A Lancaster JetHawks of the California League, who he returned to in 2006 and was named CAL Player of the Week. Brito saw time with the Double-A Mobile BayBears of the Southern League in 2007 and was named a SOU Post-Season and Mid-Season All-Star and following the season was named the Diamondbacks’ 26th best prospect and rated Best Strike Zone Discipline in the Diamondbacks system. In 2007, Brito was added to the Diamondbacks 40-man roster before being optioned to the Triple-A Tucson Sidewinders of the Pacific Coast League in March of 2008. In 2009, Brito split time with the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx, the Double-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners of the Southern League, the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Memphis Redbirds of the Pacific Coast League, and the Grand Prairie AirHogs. Brito moved on to the Pensacola Pelicans in 2010 and in 2011 split time with the Sioux City Explorers and the Diablos where he hit .310/.401/.448 with 70 runs scored, 110 hits, including 28 doubles, seven home runs, 52 RBIs, and 53 walks in 95 games, including .358/.443/.539 with 50 runs, 73 hits, 22 doubles, five home runs, 36 RBIs, and 31 walks in 54 games with the Diablos. He has amassed career statistics of .308/.398/.488 with 479 runs scored, 832 hits, including 180 doubles, seven triples, 97 home runs, and 489 RBIs in 776 games over nine seasons and a career fielding percentage of .989 playing first and third base and some outfield.
