In Tommy Mace, the Orlando Scorpions are getting the Friday night starter from one of the nation’s best teams. Mace was selected in the 12th round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Reds, but chose to attend the University of Florida. At UF, Mace has made 26 starts over three seasons, including 16 in 2019. Mace was off to a blistering start this spring, going 3-0 with a 1.67 ERA in starts against Marshall, Miami, Troy, and South Florida. He went at least six innings in all four starts, and struck out six or more hitters in each outing. Mace played in the Cape Cod League following the 2018 season, and was a member of the Team USA Collegiate National Team in 2019.
