Alex Boxwell returns for his fourth season of professional baseball and third with the RedHawks. In his fourth year of pro ball, 2021 will be the first time that Boxwell has the chance to experience a normal May start to the season. Boxwell hit .246/.282/.415 with eight doubles, 10 RBIs, and four home runs in 34 games for the RedHawks in 2020. The Coon Rapids, Minn. native made his professional debut with the St. Paul Saints in 2018 after graduating from the University of Minnesota and got one at-bat against the Chicago Dogs on Aug. 25, 2018 to make his pro debut. He was signed by the Gary SouthShore RailCats before the 2019 season, but was released after aggravating a shoulder injury. He re-signed with the RailCats and appeared in three games before being released on July 18. He originally signed with the RedHawks on Aug. 17, 2019 and took advantage of limited playing time to stick around and earn a spot on the 2020 roster. 

Boxwell went undrafted after playing four seasons of college baseball at the University of Minnesota from 2015-18. He hit .263/.323/.420 in 163 appearances for the Gophers with 20 doubles, seven triples, 15 home runs, 70 RBIs, and 31 stolen bases. Named to NCAA Minneapolis Regional All-Tournament team in 2018 after driving in four runs and going 2-for-3 with a double and a home run against No.19 UCLA in the NCAA Tournament. He dealt with injuries during his junior and senior seasons, a pulled hamstring in 2017 and cartilage damage and a bone bruise in 2018, that limited his playing time.
